wasn't made for these times

From The Lost Beatles Photographs: The Bob Bonis Archive, 1964-1966 by Larry Marion:

"Between the two shows, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Al Jardine, and Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys, who had flown up from California just for the occasion, went backstage and met The Beatles for the first time. They reportedly talked about girls, cars, England, and California."

I loved this at first, chuckling to myself: "of course that's what they talked about heheh." Then I noticed that Brian didn't make the trip. Guess he was too busy being awesome and creating the real musical underpinnings of the Beach Boys brand that Mike Love would co-opt and live off of for the rest of his life. Dick. Or maybe I'm just looking for reasons to say mean things about Mike Love. Whatever. He deserves it. And the mad genius thing works for me every time.

  1. That's a pretty awesome photo. And Brian Wilson is the man.

  2. Don't forget Mike and the rest of the Beach Boys used Brian's genius to weasel their way onto Full House.
